Governing Board Member
The Role
An Ethos Classical Board Member serves as a steward of the school’s mission, ensuring that all governance, strategy, and decision-making support the success of scholars in a rigorous curriculum within a structured, supportive community. Board members provide oversight, guidance, and accountability for school leadership while helping to advance long-term sustainability, growth, and community impact. This is a high-commitment role requiring both deep alignment with the mission and the capacity to contribute meaningfully through time, expertise, and influence.
THE PERSON
- Champion and safeguard the mission, vision, and model of Ethos Classical
- Serve as an ambassador for Ethos Classical in the broader community
- Provide strategic oversight and accountability to school leadership
- Actively participate in board meetings, committees, planning sessions, and annual training requirements
- Contribute expertise in key areas such as finance, law, fundraising, or community leadership
- Leverage your network and influence to support school growth and partnerships
- Engage in fundraising efforts and make a personally meaningful annual contribution
- Collaborate with fellow board members in thoughtful, principled decision-making
- Commit time and attention to preparation, follow-through, and active engagement
MUST HAVES
- Prior Experience: 10+ years of leadership and demonstrated impact in one or more of the following areas:
- - Finance
- - Law
- - Fundraising/development
- Experience serving on boards or in prior governance roles preferred
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or relevant professional credentials preferred.
