About the Role

The Gourmet Market General Manager oversees daily operations, ensuring adherence to company standards and service levels to drive sales and minimize costs. This role focuses on team development, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor costs.
  • Train and develop all new front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) employees.
  • Maintain a guest-focused approach in all duties.
  • Ensure operational expenses and costs align with budgets and profit goals.
  • Develop and train front-of-house staff.
  • Delegate tasks for ordering supplies and follow up to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform weekly and monthly inventories and update beverage prices on spreadsheets.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and federal/state/local laws.
  • Maintain a professional market image, including cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Deliver positive guest service and address complaints to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
  • Implement proper security procedures to protect team members, guests, and company assets.
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce injury and accident risks.
  • Complete accident reports promptly if a guest or team member is injured.
  • Assist in menu planning, development, and meal specials.
  • Enforce proper cash management controls for all F&B staff members.
  • Manage shifts, including decision-making, scheduling, attendance tracking, and upholding service standards.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality and service.
  • Provide direction and communication to team members on operational information and procedural changes.
  • Develop team members through ongoing feedback.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date staffing plan with trained, competent individuals.
  • Possess complete knowledge of all department policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Be familiar with resort services, amenities, and outlets.
  • Available for work assignments outside of customary hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and catering events.
  • Comply with all Store Market policies and procedures as communicated by management.
  • Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
  • Work effectively with the Human Resources Director on proper documentation and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in retail administration, preferably in market management, with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
