Golf Maintenance Worker I

Job Summary
- Studies golf course presentation daily to ensure that bunkers are raked, tee markers are set, cups are properly cut etc.
- Operates maintenance equipment to maintain golf course landscaping, equipment includes walking/riding mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, aerifiers, and various hand tools and implements.
- Applies fertilizers and chemicals within application guidelines and in adherence with safety protocols, and documents accordingly.
- Topdresses course areas as directed by course superintendent.
- Plants and maintains trees, shrubs, perennial beds, flower beds, and native plants.
- Assists in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of the irrigation system.
- Assists with landscape construction to include soil preparation, fine grading, sod/seed installation, shrubs, perennial and flower bed installation.
- Responsible for repair and maintenance of restrooms, shelters, fences, and concrete work.
- Responsible for snow removal in walkways, parking areas, and other areas as assigned.
- Responsible for trash collection and removal on course, cart paths, drainage systems, and open space.
- Uses handheld radio respectfully and professionally.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not formally supervise staff, but is expected to serve as a team lead and provides general guidance, oversight, and training to seasonal staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum experience as required by position includes skilled landscape maintenance such as mowing, edging, sprinkler installation/repair, plant and flower installation, etc.; landscape, construction, and equipment operation required as defined for each level of position.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Other Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of golf course maintenance techniques and procedures including planting, irrigation, disease control, maintenance, construction, and repair work.
- Proficient use of general grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to dig; rake; hammer; saw; drill; shovel; push; pull; stand; walk; use hands to hold, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot, dry, wet and/or humid conditions.
- Working conditions is primarily outside in golf course and native foothills setting. May require working and/or driving during inclement weather.
