About the Role

Under the general supervision of the ADR Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of all ADR equipment at the Round Mountain open-pit mine in Nevada. Round Mountain uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio, pouring its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. The mine is a key contributor to the Nye County economy and has helped achieve significant improvements in local healthcare and education.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair all related ADR equipment.
• Work in cooperation with the ADR operations group and the ADR technical services group to execute general ADR maintenance, capital, and construction projects.
• Respond to equipment emergencies on a 24-hour basis as required.
• Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
• Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in job performance.
• Help develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
• Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
• Complete maintenance tasks on a timely basis and prepare pertinent documentation and records for all work performed.

Requirements

• Comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge in mechanical and hydraulic equipment inspection and repair.
• Demonstrate good housekeeping practices.
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Carry out daily work assignments with a minimum of supervision.
• Trade School degree preferred.
• Previous experience with JDE preferred.
• Two years of fixed plant maintenance experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Skills

• Disassemble and reassemble a diaphragm, rotary gear, and the wet end of a centrifugal pump.
• Demonstrate straight edge alignment of a direct drive pump.
• Complete basic welding tasks.
• Use measurement tools (dial indicator, dial caliper, feeler gauges, and machinist ruler).
• Identify and read a bolt torque and drill & tap chart.
• Operate overhead cranes.
• Perform proper sheave alignment and drive belt tensioning.
• Replace broken lines (HDPE, Steel, or Rubber lined).
• Repair or replace valves and clamps.

• Manage the Kinross Gold Corporation Environmental Health and Safety Management system in areas of responsibility.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
• Adhere to all safety and environmental considerations and maintain a strong commitment to safe working practices.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while in the production environment.
• Observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions.
• Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements.
