Gruntwork is dedicated to transforming DevOps practices. We are known for our open-source tools and thought leadership in DevOps. We are currently seeking a senior Golang engineer to focus on OpenTofu and other open-source projects at Gruntwork.

About this role

This is a contractor position, paid based on an hourly rate. You will work an average of 25-35 hours per week, with the flexibility to work up to 35 hours per week, coordinating with the OpenTofu development team. There is a potential path to full-time employment with Gruntwork upon future openings.

Qualifications for Success

• 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on Golang
• Proven experience with open source projects, ideally in a leadership role
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Available to work ~48 weeks per year, averaging ~25-35 hours/week
• Read and align with Gruntwork's company values

• Extensive OpenTofu/Terraform experience, including authoring modules, operating in production, and improving the tool

• Experience taking ownership of software, defining features, planning work, and shipping according to plan
• Productive, continuously improving a large-scale project used by thousands of engineers
• Good at asynchronous collaboration and testing
• Comfortable using AI in the development process, particularly through GitHub Copilot in the near future

About your time zone

We require that all team members live in a time zone between Los Angeles and New York, inclusive. You can be located anywhere in the western hemisphere, but most of our team is in the USA and Canada.
