About the role

The General Merchandise Expert is an expert of store process and efficiency who enables a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The role supports inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas, conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and assists with pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks.
• When guests need assistance, engage with them in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs.
• Thank guests and let them know you’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to achieve business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes such as changing product prices, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures—setting up and organizing merchandise, managing stock levels, and maintaining sales‑floor areas—affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about store resources, products, and services to solve guest issues and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
• Work safely at all times; comply with safety policies, best practices, and training; report and correct hazards where possible.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier and digital fulfillment (picking, packing, delivering pickup orders) while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders, scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, frequently lifting or moving items up to 44 pounds without assistance.
• Reliable and prompt attendance; flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) required.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive‑Up and carryout.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $20.00 USD per hour.

Flexible work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times.
