Global Transportation Supervisor - Compliance

About the role

Responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and regulatory integrity of the U.S. import compliance program. Oversees team operations, manages the customs entry audit and duty drawback programs, and acts as the main escalation point for import-related issues, including regulatory inquiries, broker performance, and classification disputes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Team Supervision & Quality Assurance
  • Supervise daily workflow within the US Import domain, including transaction queue management, workload prioritization, and escalation triage
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching
  • Contribute to merit and compensation decisions
  • Design and maintain quality assurance protocols with risk-tiered review structures and defined escalation triggers
  • Ensure team output meets compliance standards without requiring review of every transaction
  • Own and operate a systematic entry audit program for US import activity
  • Define and apply a risk-tiered sampling methodology using ACE data as the primary source
  • Categorize and track errors by type, classification, valuation, and country of origin
  • Report findings to management on a regular cadence
  • Monitor import entry error rate as a program metric
  • Own and manage the end-to-end data pipeline for the duty drawback program in coordination with the drawback broker
  • Maintain import-to-export entry linkage integrity
  • Manage the three-year statute timeline
  • Evaluate broker performance against program expectations and escalate deficiencies
  • Manage relationships for US import lanes
  • Define and track KPIs (entry accuracy, classification error rate, liquidation cycle time, CF-28/29 response quality, AES filing accuracy)
  • Conduct structured performance reviews on a regular cadence
  • Distinguish between routine corrections and formal escalations, documenting both
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for regulatory questions, discrepancies, disputes, and government inquiries
  • Reconstruct incomplete entry records using ACE, Oracle GTM, and supplier documentation
  • Respond to CF-28/29 correspondence within required deadlines
  • Develop and defend HTS classification positions using GRI methodology, chapter notes, explanatory notes, and CROSS rulings
  • Determine when external counsel is needed and prepare complete referral documentation
  • Monitor and report key import compliance metrics (error rate, drawback recovery rate, broker KPI performance, audit findings)
  • Deliver reporting on a structured cadence
  • Translate data into actionable insights for management
  • Implement and maintain SOPs, compliance checklists, and classification workflow standards
  • Lead onboarding and functional training for new team members
  • Coordinate on regulatory developments, resource needs, and escalated matters requiring higher-level engagement

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics Management preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years' progressive experience in a related field required
  • 4-6 plus years' experience with import/export trade compliance and logistics
  • 5 years Supervisory experience
  • Expert knowledge of Supply Chain & Logistics terminology and lingo
  • Knowledge of and experience with regional customs regulations on exports, import experience
  • US Trade regulations experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of and experience with import/export documents and regulations supporting global business
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different layers of the organization
  • Experience with Global Trade Management systems (Oracle GTM, Amber Road, etc.)
  • Proficient in web-based applications and MS Office
  • Experience and understanding of VAT regulations a plus
  • Experience and knowledge of other global import/export regulations a plus
  • Qualified candidates must be interested in working within fast-paced, changing environment
  • Must possess an elevated level of integrity and professionalism, including in dealing with complex and sensitive matters
  • Broker's License is a plus

Compensation/ Benefits

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $75,600 to $94,500. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.
