About the role

The successful candidate will lead the procurement strategies for K2 Space's mechanical supply chain, ensuring that all hardware requirements are met efficiently and effectively. They will also manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee the entire lifecycle of mechanical components.

Responsibilities

  • Define company-wide strategy for sourcing mechanical commodities such as machined parts, mechanisms, composites, COPVs, and raw materials.
  • Lead cradle-to-grave supplier management, including identifying capabilities within the supply base, onboarding vendors, quoting and placing orders, resolving issues with engineering and quality teams, and tracking build milestones.
  • Create robust supplier scorecards and metrics to ensure consistent supplier performance and quality.
  • Execute and maintain highly-quality purchasing transactions by issuing purchase orders and managing open orders with materials requirement planning.
  • Develop strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on procurement strategies and meeting critical mission needs.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver hardware that meets cost, schedule, and quality targets.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in supply chain management or engineering in the aerospace industry.
  • 3+ years of experience reading mechanical drawings and working with structures and mechanisms hardware.
  • 3+ years managing Bill of Materials for mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and how to store mechanical hardware.
  • Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment with engineering, production, and finance.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry parts or equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of the market and capabilities available for manufacturing.
  • Technical procurement of mechanical hardware.
  • End-to-end Bill of Material (BOM) management for owned assemblies.
  • Experience managing mechanical suppliers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic partnerships with key manufacturing companies and distributors.
  • Experience in new product introduction environments.
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings.

Pay

Base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $175,000 + equity in the company.
