About the role
As the Global Steward, Product Stewardship & Regulatory (PS&R) for the Kevlar® business, you will be responsible for leading the team’s commitment to Responsible Care® Product Safety Code, providing product stewardship expertise for the team and advising the business management team on regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Serve as product stewardship subject matter expert and advise management to implement, execute, and deliver on new product development and commercialization.
- PS&R consultation for new product application, market development opportunities and supply chain, including vetting with operations, supply chain, marketing, contract manufacturing, quality, EHS, and technology functional experts.
- Lead product risk characterization and review efforts. This includes understanding product regulations, product trail, product hazards, exposures and ultimately assessing the risk to develop responsible product safety guidance, working with toxicology and risk assessment experts.
- Obtain relevant product documentation and be the owner of Kevlar® Product Stewardship Management System to maintain certification under Responsible® Care following the Product Safety Codes of Practice.
- Develop and review product literature, messaging, providing product safety, product stewardship, and sustainability guidance for external and internal documents.
- Support product stewardship and regulatory compliance needs of Kevlar® products including by managing product compositions, raw material supplier information, Safety Data Sheets and Article Information Sheets, and product labels.
- Monitor trends and proactively plan actions to meet future regulations, especially in key geographies and customer segments.
- Collaborate with product management, and marketing, and sales account leaders to respond to customer inquiries on product safety, compliance, transparency, and sustainability.
- Outreach, education, and training of stakeholders within the Kevlar® business.
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Sustainability, or related scientific field.
- 5-10 years of work experience in PS&R field.
- Previous work experience providing PS&R compliance support and product certifications, with the ability to analyze environmental impacts.
- Risk management understanding: ability to utilize established PS&R guidelines; adapt them to new situations (taking theoretical to practical use); or create new PS&R frameworks, standardized processes, and tools for implementation.
- Ability to aggregate and synthesize large amounts of data from global cross-functional team.
- Ability to learn and become well-versed in multiple markets & technologies in parallel.
- Customer-oriented, with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Strong interpersonal, networking skills, and written and oral communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver on commitments, yet agility to reprioritize.
- Fluency in the English language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A strong external network in product stewardship and chemistry.
- Product development and commercialization experience.
- Some manufacturing knowledge and exposure, such as working with quality, EHS, and manufacturing technologists in integrated operations.
- Experience with product life cycle assessments, environmental product declarations, and other environmental impact and sustainability validation methodologies and certifications.
Location
North America, preferably on the east coast.
