Responsibilities

The Global Payroll Specialist – Global Reporting and Banking is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and effective presentation of payroll processing information for Mercedes-Benz Assignment Services Americas (MBASA). This role also has sole responsibility for banking activities related to EURO payout processes.

  • 75% - Monthly operations US and CAN
    • Generate accurate and timely regular domestic and global payroll reporting requirements.
    • Deliver end-to-end process (e.g., from payroll registers to general ledger and payroll output files) to various stakeholders, including Accounting, Tax, Benefits, Treasury, and the Global Payroll Management team and Global Payroll Provider.
    • Run reporting corrections (e.g., Supplemental GL, Payroll output file corrections) as identified or required by stakeholders.
    • Respond to variance reports from EY/Deloitte as part of global payroll control activities.
    • Provide responses to any white spot tracker queries from EY/Deloitte.
    • Review and approve Canada monthly payrolls, including processing associated activities (e.g., daily reports and wire approvals for tax payments).
    • Ensure payments related to Canada province’s obligations are properly approved and processed as required by the payroll provider.
    • Handle the banking euro currency split for Canada inbounds and in the US, including end-to-end process ownership: assignee questions, maintenance of self-service home payout feature, transfer of assignee information into Dayforce (DF), pay instruction from Deutsche Bank (DB), and contact with DB to resolve technical issues.
    • Deliver the DB statement report to accounting.
    • Generate the EUR payout split positions report for EY/Deloitte by the end of the month as part of the global salary statement.
  • 25% - Annual processes and on-demand activities
    • Perform hypo-tax initial calculations and annual hypo-tax updates.
    • Monitor company notifications impacting payroll activities (e.g., garnishments, tax authorities, refund checks).
    • Execute various regular internal controls to ensure data accuracy.
    • Coordinate the prompt delivery of evidence for the annual Internal Controls System (ICS) self-assessment.
    • Support the Payroll Manager on specific tasks regarding annual processing activities (e.g., Phantom Shares Program, annual bonus, merit increase).

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, or Tax.
    • Working experience with US payroll tax regulations.
    • Working experience with International Payroll.
    • Experience executing internal controls (preferred).
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably Master’s Degree) with an emphasis in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Tax.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Intermediate or advanced working knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
    • High numerical aptitude.
    • Data analytics and interpretation of information.
    • Strong sense of urgency and result orientation.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on process discipline.
    • Strong, positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
