Global Indirect Tax Automation Manager (Tax Technology)
About the role
The Global Indirect Tax Automation Manager will implement and build third party tax systems with major third-party ERP and billing platforms (SAP, Oracle, Workday, PeopleSoft, Great Plains), as well as custom billing systems for clients. This role involves collaborating with team members, practicing leadership, and interacting with a diverse client base. Key responsibilities include requirements gathering, design, build, and testing implementation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Project Manager on assigned third-party tax software implementations (Vertex, Avalara, Sovos, Thomson Reuters, ADP, Billsoft) and custom software development projects
- Manage assigned system integration projects involving major ERP and billing systems, such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, etc.
- Requirements analysis and design for indirect tax software implementations
- Manage programming for custom system interfaces and modification of preexisting interfaces
- Test and support of assigned system go-live projects
- Develop and deliver key project documentation including requirements documents, design documents, and test plans
- Participate in Sales meetings and Proposal Development meetings
- Network and develop key relationships both within Grant Thornton and externally
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related technical field
- One of the following credentials: Project Management Professional, Six Sigma, Lean or equivalent certification
- Master’s degree in accounting, Tax Business Administration, Finance or Information Systems
- Tax Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation or equivalent accounting certification or law license in home country (e.g., Chartered Accountant)
- Five years of experience with SAP/Oracle functional and/or technical experience
- Two years of Oracle EBS/ERP Cloud/SAP ABAP Design and Development experience
- Deep technical understanding of SAP or Oracle, including customization path, table structures, and core functional Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay streams
- SAP Namespace development a plus
- Experience writing documentation for ERP implementations
- Experience managing and developing team members for these types of implementations
- Experience in public accounting is a plus
- Strong computer skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel as needed
Pay
The base salary range for this position is between $151,800 and $189,750. Placement within the pay range is at Grant Thornton's discretion, and it is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, progression within the role, geographic location, and internal equity.
Schedule
This position requires in-person attendance at least three days per week, either at a GT office or client site. Consistent with the firm's hybrid work model, this position will require in-person attendance at least three days per week, either at a GT office or client site.
