Global Indirect Tax Automation Manager (Tax Technology)
About the role
The Global Indirect Tax Automation Manager will implement and build third party tax systems with major third-party ERP and billing platforms (SAP, Oracle, Workday, PeopleSoft, Great Plains), as well as custom billing systems for clients. This role requires collaboration with team members, leadership, and a diverse client base.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Project Manager on assigned third-party tax software implementations (Vertex, Avalara, Sovos, Thomson Reuters, ADP, Billsoft) and custom software development projects
- Manage assigned system integration projects involving major ERP and billing systems, such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, etc.
- Requirements analysis and design for indirect tax software implementations
- Manage programming for custom system interfaces and modification of preexisting interfaces
- Test and support of assigned system go-live projects
- Develop and deliver key project documentation including requirements documents, design documents, and test plans
- Participate in Sales meetings and Proposal Development meetings
- Network and develop key relationships both within Grant Thornton and externally
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related technical field
- One of the following credentials: Project Management Professional, Six Sigma, Lean or equivalent certification
- Master’s degree in accounting, Tax Business Administration, Finance or Information Systems
- Tax Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation
- Equivalent accounting certification or law license in home country (e.g., Chartered Accountant)
- Five years of experience with SAP/Oracle functional and/or technical experience
- Two years of Oracle EBS/ERP Cloud/SAP ABAP Design and Development experience
- Deep technical understanding of SAP or Oracle, including customization path, table structures, and core functional Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay streams
- SAP Namespace development a plus
- Experience writing documentation for ERP implementations
- Experience managing and developing team members for these types of implementations
- Experience in public accounting is a plus
- Strong computer skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel as needed
Pay
The base salary range for this position is between $151,800 and $189,750. Placement within the pay range is at Grant Thornton's discretion, and it is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, progression within the role, geographic location, and internal equity.
Schedule
This position will require in-person attendance at least three days per week, either at a GT office or client site.
