Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction, growth, and profitability of CNA’s U.S. Small Business and Middle Market Life Sciences businesses, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and long-term growth priorities.
- Develop and execute global portfolio strategies that drive profitable growth, optimize performance, and strengthen competitive positioning in the marketplace.
- Serve as a trusted thought leader to global counterparts, providing consultative guidance and technical support that advances CNA’s global Life Sciences business.
- Partner closely with Distribution, Product, Actuarial, Finance, Claims, Risk Control and Operations leaders to develop and execute profitable growth strategies.
- Champion underwriting excellence by establishing high standards for risk selection, governance, quality assurance, technical expertise and performance accountability.
- Strengthen market presence and business results through strategic broker engagement and the development of sales and underwriting capabilities within the team.
- Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing underwriting organization, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and results.
- Athrive in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, leading through influence.
- Attract, develop and retain top talent to build organizational capabilities and succession pipelines that support current and future business needs.

- Comprehensive knowledge of the commercial insurance industry, products, distribution channels, and market dynamics.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with Master’s preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent.
- Typically a minimum of 12 years of related work experience, with seven years management experience.
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred.
