Global EHS Manager
About the role
The Global Environmental Health & Safety Manager at EQI is responsible for fostering a culture of safety and ensuring all EQI facilities in the USA, Canada, China, India, and Northern Ireland operate in alignment with the goal of an injury-free workplace. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, drives continuous improvement in safety practices, and promotes a unified approach to environmental health and safety across all locations.
This position reports directly to the VP of Operations.
Essential Functions
Manage the development, planning, and implementation of company industrial safety programs.
Provide administrative supervision to members of the EHS Council.
Ensure global alignment to corporate EHS and environmental objectives.
Design and implement behavioral-based safety programs for all EQI facilities.
Cook up safety-related activities with EQI team members, proactively detecting and monitoring conditions that may impact employee safety or violate regulations.
Training & Compliance
Develop and maintain global safety training programs.
Ensure all employees are trained on applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Oversee the execution of leading safety indicator programs to identify and prevent potential hazards and incidents.
Maintain and update corporate safety policies.
Ensure all EQI locations are prepared to submit required documentation to regulatory bodies.
Incident Management & Reporting
Track health, safety, and environmental incidents; manage escalation protocols; and drive permanent corrective actions.
Review EHS and environmental metrics, analyze data, and report results with actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
Monitor exposure to hazardous chemicals and prepare reports for submission to OSHA and other relevant organizations globally.
Regulatory & Operational Support
Assess and monitor site compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations, collaborating with plant personnel to ensure ongoing compliance.
Support new equipment and facility installations by preparing necessary documentation for permits and licenses prior to operation.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in safety/EHS or a related discipline from an accredited four-year college or university.
10+ years of relevant work experience.
Proven track record in implementing and administering health, safety, and environmental management systems.
Ability to perform audits, write, and submit reports.
Adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
Strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills for investigating health, safety, and environmental issues.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Highly interpersonal skills to lead, motivate, and facilitate group situations effectively.
Analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate solutions for unique and diverse problems.
Independent judgment and effective organizational and planning skills.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (estimated 15%-25% as needed).
Preferred Skills
Experience in EHS and environmental management.
Knowledge of and experience with metal casting processes, including resin, green, vacuum sand castings, investment castings, and die castings.
Familiarity with materials such as gray iron, steel, ductile iron, and aluminum.
Experience with paint applications, machining, and warehouse operations.
