Global Commodity Manager I

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability, capacity planning, risk mitigation, cost and quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal sales and operations teams, develop efficient and accurate mechanisms for communicating forecast and capacity requirements with suppliers for present production, long term planning and NPI (New Product Introduction) projects.
  • Owning commodity strategy and supplier technology roadmap, aligning business requirements with supplier capabilities.
  • Identify capacity requirements and develop new suppliers while collaborating with engineering and supplier quality team.
  • Lead contract negotiations and execute supplier agreements that optimize commercial terms, mitigate risk, and support business objectives.
  • Define standard and custom product requirements to ensure that sourcing strategies meet the technical capabilities, cost and business objectives.
  • Supports the Purchasing team by monitoring supplier performance and addressing supply and/or quality issues; lead and mentor buyers, providing coaching and development to strengthen sourcing capabilities.
  • Collaborates with technical operations, engineering and quality teams on new product introduction. Aligns supplier strategies to operational objectives for sustaining production and NPI projects.
  • Maintains supplier scorecards and conducts quarterly executive business reviews.
  • Mitigates excess and obsolete inventory through proactive analysis, disposition strategies, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Supports escalation management for material shortages, coordinating with suppliers, production, planning, and logistics teams to minimize business impact.
  • Travel to supplier domestic and international manufacturing sites as required.
  • Champion a culture of supply chain excellence throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work in an ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple stakeholders, responsibilities and delivering multiple innovative programs with aggressive delivery schedules.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools.
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, commodity management, and supplier management in a global sourcing and operations manufacturing environment.
  • 35 years of direct experience working with a global supply base of advanced electromechanical suppliers.
  • Experience working closely with engineering to anticipate needs, define technology roadmaps and align with developmental projects.
  • Experience developing, leading, and executing global supplier cost, risk and lead time reduction strategies.
  • Experience with price and contract negotiation and execution with strategic suppliers.
  • Demonstrated use of technical, analytical, and management skills to lead RFQ’s, supplier selection, supplier capacity planning and supplier risk identification/mitigation in NPI programs.
  • Well organized.
  • Ability to be organized in how you think, communicate, and conduct work.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity, accelerated growth and adapt to rapid change.

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $110K to $130K per year. The actual pay offered will be determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, job-related knowledge, internal equity, and geographical location.
