About the role
This is a hybrid position which requires working out of our headquarters facility in Owatonna, MN and remotely / from home. Therefore, candidates must reside within reasonable drivable distance to our facility. In addition, this position requires up to 25% travel.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to Wenger Corporation's focus on enhancing competitiveness, strengthening resilience, and meeting the evolving demands of our customers and stakeholders by proactively managing key commodities.
- Oversee and manage the sourcing, procurement, and supply chain activities related to a broad spectrum of commodities on a global scale.
- Build necessary supply chains to support New Product Development (NPD) and strategic growth initiatives across product lines.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure the availability of commodities at the right cost, quality, and quantity.
- Create and execute commodity strategies to drive cost savings opportunities, increase spend under contract, improve DPO and inventory metrics, and shorten lead times to support various value streams.
- Negotiate contracts and monitor market trends and manage risks associated with commodity price fluctuations.
- Manage Wenger Corporation's supply base by sourcing, selecting, and negotiating commodity agreements for both current and future suppliers.
- Execute RFX activities to assess cost competitiveness of current supply base as well as support supplier selection.
- Lead supplier relationship management efforts through performance evaluations and quarterly reviews.
- Establish preferred supplier criteria and implement strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
- Increase awareness of viable suppliers across industries to mitigate single source risks and limitations.
- Resolve supplier disputes and any commodity-related issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain efficiency and drive cost saving.
- Study market trends and identify risks and opportunities by geographical area when sourcing and procuring commodities.
- Work closely with Purchasing team to maintain continuity of supply.
- Support development of new work processes to better align with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Business Administration or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of procurement / sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment with large and small-scale, complex, and/or regional/global categories of spend
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Strong data analytical skills
- Experience with Lean tools & methodologies
- Proficiency with EpicorISM Certification
