About the role

As a leader on the Child Safety Operations team, you will ensure the timely detection and removal of content across the broad spectrum of online child endangerment, such as child sexual abuse and exploitation. Through close partnerships with Legal, Policy, and Product & Process teams, you will manage global time-critical escalations and child sexual exploitation and abuse incidents to protect our online community.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Child Safety Leads and Specialists, ensuring daily operational effectiveness, setting goals, and supporting team wellness.
  • Coach and mentor team members, devising development plans for their professional growth.
  • Manage escalations of child safety requests, including those from law enforcement, and liaise with Legal, Policy, Product, Government Relations, and Law Enforcement Operations teams as needed.
  • Identify risks and issues across the business, creating programs and processes to address them proactively. Establish regular reporting to keep stakeholders and leadership informed on progress, findings, and recommendations.
  • Manage multiple projects of moderate-to-high complexity, working cross-functionally to ensure coordination and alignment on objectives and key results.
  • Enhance operational workflows through process improvements and automation opportunities. Drive innovation in processes and best practices for implementing policies.
  • Represent TikTok as a senior public-facing voice on safeguarding and reporting mechanisms for child safety exploitation and abuse, including participation in external forums with child protection organizations.
  • Stay abreast of and evaluate the impact of global legislative, regulatory, and legal developments related to the handling and reporting of child safety material.
  • Define and implement a long-term strategy to address scaling for the future.
  • Set and interpret performance metrics to drive organizational change.
  • Address sensitive content issues, including graphic images, videos, offensive or derogatory language, and other objectionable material.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with Trust and Safety issues or similar fields involving online abuse.
  • 2+ years of management experience leading cross-regional operational teams.
  • Experience engaging with Law Enforcement, Government, and Child Protection organizations.
  • Experience reviewing or being exposed to sensitive content as part of removal flows, calibrations, and escalations management.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and devising team strategies.
  • Ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams, with senior stakeholders, and executives.
  • Sound knowledge of Law Enforcement Child Safety investigations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with social media, analytical tools, and open-source investigation.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $166,400 - $352,800 annually. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.
