Global Banking - REF Risk Management, Head of Structuring
About the role
We're seeking an Executive Director, Head of Structuring within Real Estate Finance (REF) Risk Management to lead the structuring function across a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate financing transactions. This includes providing independent risk assessment and challenge of proposed lending structures, transaction terms, and portfolio exposures. The role involves partnering closely with various teams throughout the transaction lifecycle, overseeing complex financing structures, and representing REF Risk Management in internal governance forums.
Responsibilities
- Lead the structuring function across a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate financing transactions
- Provide independent risk assessment and challenge of proposed lending structures, transaction terms, and portfolio exposures
- Partner closely with Origination, Underwriting, Capital Markets, Legal, Finance, and Risk Control teams throughout the transaction lifecycle
- Oversee the evaluation of complex financing structures, including bridge loans, warehouse facilities, construction financing, securitized products, and other structured real estate transactions
- Ensure transactions are aligned with the firm's risk appetite, policies, regulatory requirements, and governance standards
- Identify emerging portfolio, market, and credit risks and provide recommendations to senior management
- Drive consistency, transparency, and discipline across structuring and approval processes
- Represent REF Risk Management in internal governance forums, credit committees, and senior stakeholder discussions
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a strong risk culture and continuous improvement mindset
Requirements
- Extensive experience in commercial real estate finance, structured lending, credit risk management, or real estate capital markets
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and driving strategic initiatives
- Strong knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, loan structuring, securitization, portfolio management, and credit approval processes
- Ability to analyze complex transactions and communicate risk considerations clearly to senior stakeholders
- Strong understanding of risk governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and control environments
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build effective partnerships across business and control functions
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional certification preferred

Salary information: The indicative gross base salary range as a full-time equivalent role is USD 325,000 per annum. The expected salary for this role will be determined by relevant factors including role-required experience, qualifications, education, location, and skill level.
