About the role
A glazier is responsible for cutting, fabricating, and installing glass and architectural aluminum metal for various building components including windows, doors, store fronts, glass curtain walls, and unitized panel systems. The position also involves installing custom automatic doors and skylights, as well as cutting and installing mirrors. Glaziers utilize a range of power and hand tools, including wire clips, rubber gaskets, metal or wood moldings, putty, and caulking.
Responsibilities
- Install custom automatic doors and skylights in buildings
- Cut and install mirrors
- Use a variety of power and hand tools in the shop and on construction projects
- Set metal, glass, and seal units to be watertight during installation
- Use wire clips, rubber gaskets, metal or wood moldings, putty, and caulking to complete the installation process
Requirements
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Must have a thorough understanding and ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
- Basic hand tools and knowledge of using grinders, saws, caulk guns, scaffold, ladders, lift machines, etc.
- Must adhere to all job site safety standards and OSHA compliance
- Ability to perform glazing duties as assigned in the absence of a foreman
- Must be a respectful union member on the jobsite
Qualifications
- Experience in all phases of curtain wall, storefront, and unitized panel systems
