GitHub Contributor – Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Create reinforcement learning environments that evaluate AI models on complex software engineering tasks. Develop reproducible environments and golden/reference solutions for software engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Debug and resolve complex software defects.
• Implement new features in existing codebases.
• Refactor and modernize legacy code.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Apply strong algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
• Analyze unfamiliar and complex codebases and develop effective technical solutions.
• Provide expert-level code samples, debugging strategies, and development insights.
• Document technical reasoning, solution approaches, and implementation decisions.
• Review and validate peer-contributed code and technical submissions.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with software engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in at least one of the following: Python 3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Complex debugging and troubleshooting.
• Bug fixing and root-cause analysis.
• Feature implementation.
• Codebase refactoring.
• Performance optimization.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to work with large and/or complex codebases.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication.
• GitHub / GitLab experience.
