Senior Software Developer / Engineer
Amentum is seeking software engineering professionals with software development-related education and/or experience to support software development and integration for Naval projects in Dahlgren, Virginia. This position is on-site in Dahlgren, VA, where Amentum has provided support to the customer for over 60 years. You will be part of a growing systems and software engineering team and contribute across multiple software contracts in support of our Software Center of Excellence. Solve complex Digital Engineering challenges while working on the latest DoD weapons and sensor systems, modernizing the Navy, and contributing to mission success.
Responsibilities
- Perform software development and integration using C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Support Naval projects, including the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system.
- Collaborate with a Senior Amentum developer using Agile development principles.
- Apply analysis and problem-solving techniques in professional scientific and engineering work.
- Work independently and within teams across organizations to meet schedule-driven goals.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software development.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, or another applicable technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with Agile Development.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with customers and engineering personnel.
- Active Secret U.S. Government clearance (U.S. citizenship required to maintain clearance).
- Valid REAL ID driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel between work sites.
Qualifications
- Experience across multiple programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python).
- Mathematics background is a plus.
- Experience with Git/Jenkins is also a plus.
Pay
US: $110,000–$190,000 (varies based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable laws).
