The GIS Tech I position is the beginner level of the GIS Technician career track. Inputting simple information into the company GIS system and learning from higher level GIS Technicians are the basics of the advanced GIS Technician role. A GIS Tech I will be tasked with inputting data for smaller projects such as simple additions, pole replacements, etc. Once the individual has gained the appropriate knowledge, they will be tasked with inputting data for new businesses, pole and equipment replacements, basic new installs, and projects with more complexity. This position involves working in an office environment and sitting for extended periods of time. No field work required unless required due to storm assessment requested by client.
Key Technical Skills Required
- CAD experience
- Knowledge of distribution attributes

- Electrical connectivity
Your Key Responsibilities Include
- Having a basic level of knowledge in understanding and interpreting simple design drawings, property plats, maps, and other related information as necessary to post data in the company GIS system.
- Being effective in time and work management and maintaining accurate records and files.
- Demonstrating effective oral and written communication skills.
- Performing storm damage assessment work as requested by leadership.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent, and one year of relevant work experience, or an associate’s degree (no experience required).
- A GIS program desired.
- A valid driver’s license required.
