About the role

Maintain, organize, and develop essential land records and other related GIS data for Waushara County. Develop online mapping applications and workflows within the county.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the county’s Geographic Information System (GIS) datasets, mapping applications, and projects.
• Manage ArcGIS Online assets.
• Provide support and training for geographic information system users.
• Prepare parcel property maps that reference boundaries to the public land survey system, suitable for local governmental units for accurate tax parcel boundary line or land survey line information and planning purposes.
• Operate Trimble GPS, plotters, computers, and Esri products.
• Prepare GIS-based maps in response to internal and external requests.
• Perform additional duties within the purview of the position as assigned.

Requirements

• GIS Professional certificate or Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, or related field.
• One to three years of experience, including Esri ArcGIS products.
• Excellent data entry skills.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS, plotters, Windows, and GIS-related programs.
• Working knowledge of computer programming languages related to GIS.
• Knowledge of land descriptions, tax parcel mapping, and office procedures.
• Excellent communication skills to assist the public, public employees, abstractors, attorneys, assessors, surveyors, and government officials.
• Ability to use office equipment such as computers, word processors, spreadsheets, calculators, copy machines, fax machines, and telephones.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with government officials, staff, supervisors, subordinates, and the general public.
• Meticulous attention to detail and procedure for maintaining data.

Working Conditions

• Normal office conditions; primarily sedentary.
• Exposure to VDT screens.
• Includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, minimal lifting, and communication with the public.
• Requires hand and finger dexterity.
