GIS Specialist

This position is part-time telework, requiring at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project in Reston, VA. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor.

About the Role

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company are delivering the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will serve as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, providing design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant, as well as construction of the entire facility. This role is embedded with the Poland AP1000 project’s Engineering Automation team and involves using ESRI ArcGIS tools, including Analysis and Spatial Analyst, to develop and maintain geospatial data for the project.

This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810, governing the transfer of technology for overseas commercial nuclear power plants.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of GIS applications to meet growing business demands in the construction industry.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard Geographic Information System (GIS) engineering methods, techniques, and procedures.
• Oversee planning and coordination of GIS activities to meet project goals.
• Develop and manage quality control standards for system applications.
• Perform data capture and analysis for GIS products.
• Oversee data flow, management, and distribution activities supporting GIS.
• Support the design and development of geospatial databases.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate geospatial documentation.
• Stay current with the latest developments in the GIS field.
• Support the development of work plans for complex projects and bids.
• Manage geospatial databases and develop effective maps and aerial photography.
• Provide technical writing for GIS metadata and project documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Geography, Geographical Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• Must be authorized to live and work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Qualifications

• Experience using the ESRI suite of products, including ArcGIS Server Advanced or ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Portal, Survey 123, Collector, and Field Worker.
• Experience developing web-based GIS applications.
• Proficiency working with all geospatial data formats.
• Experience with Esri ArcGIS desktop software, including ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.
• Experience with data modeling, data conversion, and ETL software such as FME (desired).
• Working knowledge of CAD programs and importing drawings into GIS.
• Knowledge of ESRI applications like ArcTools and Model Builder.
• Experience using Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Knowledge of cartographic procedures, practices, and mapping standards.
• Experience integrating with CAD tools such as BIM, Revit, and Civil 3D (preferred).
• Experience in programming languages (HTML, JavaScript, VB .Net, etc.) (preferred).

Pay

Salary range: $106,900 - $154,700 annually. Final salary is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.
