About the role
This vacancy announcement will be used to fill a full-time Systems Programmer II position in the Office of Information Technology. The work location for this position is the Riva Road Heritage Complex in Annapolis, MD.
Responsibilities
- Support GIS programming for implementation and maintenance of geospatial enterprise applications
- Support of enterprise geospatial services
- Design and maintenance of geospatial scripts
- Support of various databases
- Coordinate with multiple project teams to ensure compatibility and efficient operation of County software and hardware
- Work with Technical Services, County managers, project managers, and contractors to develop systems and monitor operational effectiveness
- Install, configure, and support major multiple operating software systems, and network management software
- Perform disaster recovery for all servers
- Analyze, test, and calibrate network equipment to improve LAN and WAN network performance
- Run backups of network data and archive as required
- Research, evaluate, and test new technologies for existing and proposed network systems
- Recommend new enhancements as needed
- Perform network security of access, usage, and protection of all servers, e-mail client workstations, printers, folders, files, and documents
- Provide technical support to external customers concerning the daily care of servers, desktop computers, network-attached printers, and multimedia network devices
- Provide advice and guidance to staff members as required
- Work with contractors, vendors, and employees concerning hardware, software, servers, and mainframe systems
Requirements
- Strong understanding of and practical experience designing and implementing SDE data models in Microsoft SQL Server SDE Geospatial environments
- Considerable knowledge of a wide array of hardware and software operating systems, cabling, and power requirements
- Considerable knowledge of network management and router configuration, personal computer equipment, and data communications networks
- Considerable knowledge of the functions and capabilities of electronic data processing equipment, and personal computer equipment
- Skill in evaluating, analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving network connectivity, server, hardware, and software problems
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in mathematics, public or business administration, or a related field, including or supplemented by specialized training in electronic data processing, programming, operations, and methodologies
- Two (2) or more years of experience in telecommunications, computer operating systems, and database management
- Experience with database management tools, reporting, and business intelligence software
- Experience developing interfaces and web services for GIS applications
- Experience working with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS On-Line, VertiGIS/Geocortex software stack, and Model Builder
- Web development skills (ReactJS, Typescript, JSON, Python, JavaScript, ArcGIS JavaScript 4x API, ArcGIS REST, ArcGIS/arcpy python libraries, or HTML5/CSS)
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL database design
- Experience working with on-premises and Cloud-based services (AWS)
