GIS Analyst

SABG is hiring a GIS Analyst to support Engineering Support Services for the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron (50 CES) at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position is performed on-site at Schriever Space Force Base and is contingent upon contract award.

About the role

Provide non-personal GIS support for the coordination, development, and management of high-quality, cost-effective Geographic Information Systems (GIS) files. Maintain current and historic infrastructure information to support planning, design, construction, and management of installation facilities and engineering records.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a specialist for geospatial data, developing, maintaining, and supporting databases, applications, and tools for architectural, engineering, and base management practices.
• Create and revise maps, charts, and related cartographic products, including investigation of source materials, assembling aerial photographs, drafting, digitizing, and editing geospatial data.
• Use computerized systems to display and analyze geographic data supporting decisions related to geology, ecology, land use, demographics, transportation, and the Air Force Base Comprehensive Plan.
• Update, coordinate, and implement CADD/GIS data such as maps, real estate, and engineering data, and advise on techniques and tools for solving CADD/GIS-related technical problems.
• Update and maintain essential CADD/GIS databases (utilities, floor plans, real property) weekly as changes occur.
• Produce custom maps and cartographic products from geospatial data to support mission requirements weekly.
• Digitize, edit, and review new or revised geospatial data for inclusion in the enterprise GIS weekly.
• Perform quality control checks on all geospatial data weekly to ensure compliance with data standards.
• Provide technical support and instruction to users on new GIS tools and facility management procedures.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in science or at least 2 years of experience in a technical field.
• Extensive knowledge of geospatial concepts, theories, principles, and practices, including cartography, remote sensing, and scientific data visualization.
• Knowledge of digital geospatial processes and products, including data production, management, archival, and maintenance in accordance with standards such as the Spatial Data Transfer Standard (SDTS) and Federal Geographic Data Committee standards.
• Skill in planning, developing, and implementing state-of-the-art mapping systems for installation organizations.
• Ability to review and evaluate existing facility management systems and provide instruction on new engineering and geospatial procedures.
• Proficiency with GIS software, CADD/GIS databases, and cartographic production tools.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Capable of passing National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Work Environment

• Primarily an office environment on a military installation, utilizing standard office equipment (computer, photocopier, telephone).
• Noise level is usually low to moderate.
• Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, write, and type on a computer.
• Frequently required to walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Pay

Salary range: $70,000–$100,000. Compensation is determined based on role requirements, education, certifications, skills, experience, geographic location, and market conditions.
