GIS Analyst Rock Energy Cooperative South Beloit, Illinois Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and analyzing geographic data to support our organization's day-to-day operations and long-term objectives. The candidate must work with operations staff and field staff to identify ways to optimize established workflows, data capture processes, and reporting systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: GIS Database ManagementDesign, implement and maintain GIS databases to store and retrieve spatial dataEnsure data integrity and accuracy through regular quality checks and updatesMapping and Spatial AnalysisConduct spatial analysis to support decision-making processesGenerate insightful reports and visualizations based on spatial data analysisCreate and export custom map images to communicate information to technical and non-technical audiencesData Collection and IntegrationCollect and integrate geographic data from various sources, including satellite imagery, GPS, and field surveysCollaborate with other departments to incorporate non-spatial data into GIS databasesWorkflow AutomationIncorporate programming and scripting languages to automate regular and or frequent ETL processesUtilize built-in GIS data relationships to reduce manual data entry and ensure accurate data capture qualitySoftware and TechnologyStay abreast of the latest GIS technologies and softwareProvide training and support to staff on GIS tools and applicationsDocumentationDocument GIS procedures, data sources, and workflows for future referenceEnsure that all GIS activities comply with organizational and industry standardsOther tasks and duties as assigned Competencies: Problem-solving and process-driven thinkingAttention to detailAbility to multitaskStrong work ethicWork independently and in a team-focused environmentStrong communication skills, particularly in conveying technical knowledge and processes to non-technical staff Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Education Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering, or related field Experience 2 years of experience in a GIS-focused role, including the following:Experience in the utility industry, with natural gas distribution and/or electric distributionExperience with SQL Database ManagementExperience with editing and managing spatial data within the utility industryTechnology Familiarity interacting with ArcGIS Utility NetworkFamiliarity with web-based GIS services in an ArcGIS Enterprise environmentProficiency in GIS software including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Survey123, and ArcGIS Field MapsFamiliarity with programming and scripting languages for the purpose of developing extract, transfer, and load processes including Python, SQL, JavaScript, and ArcGIS ArcadeProficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL Server Management Studio, AutoCADFamiliarity with PHP/HTML is beneficial but not required Qualifications: Must have and maintain a valid driver’s licenseMust have reliable transportation to and from workReside within one hour driving distance of work locationAbility to sit, stand, push, pull, walk, stoop, bend, reach above the shoulders, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
