Description " As a GIS Analyst with AMS, your office is wherever data meets the real world. As an AMS GIS Analyst, you will transform spatial data into actionable insights that help keep the lights on and communities safe. The pay range for this position is from $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, contingent upon relevant education, experience, and industry-specific certifications. This specified range is determined by the tier associated with the job posting. However, should the employee be classified under a different tier, the compensation may fall outside the stated range. WHAT WE OFFER: Industry competitive payMedical/Health/Dental/Vision/VOYA/Paid Holidays/EAP eligibility on day one of employment (Full-Time Employees)401K, Vacation Accrual, life insurance, long-term disability eligibility first of the month after 3 months of serviceSick Time eligibility on day 90 of employmentWeekly paychecks and direct depositParticipation in the Employee Referral Program (must meet eligibility requirements)Boot and clothing program (company funded, if applicable)Ongoing training and assistance with obtaining industry certifications WHAT YOU WILL DO: Analyze and interpret spatial data to support utility vegetation management (UVM) programs and infrastructure planningCreate, maintain, and update GIS databases, maps, and dashboardsPerform spatial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunitiesRespond to data inquiries & support field crews and arborists with reports, maps, spreadsheets, etc. Manage specialized databases and spreadsheets, entering data and generating reports with proficiency in Microsoft ExcelCollaborate with field teams to integrate GPS-collected data into GIS systemsGenerate reports and visualizations to support decision-making and regulatory complianceEnsure data accuracy and consistency across platforms and projectsSupport QA/QC processes for spatial data and field-collected informationAssist in developing and maintaining automated workflows using GIS tools and scriptingTravel may be required for field data collection or coordination with field teams WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE: 1-2 years of experience working with GIS software and databases, including ESRI SuiteBachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related fieldProficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)Experience with spatial data formats and coordinate systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently,manage multiple tasks, and show attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBasic programming/scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, SQL) is a plusValid driver’s license and ability to travel if needed WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE: Experience in utility or environmental GIS applicationsFamiliarity with GPS data collection tools and mobile GIS appsCertification such as GISP or Esri Technical CertificationUVM ExperienceBi-Lingual (English/Spanish) a plus Working Environment Primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork; may involve travel to utility corridors or remote locations. Work may include exposure to various weather conditions and terrain.
