Role Description

The Girls Volleyball Head JV Coach is a part-time, on-site position located in Chicago, IL. The coach is responsible for planning and leading JV girls volleyball practices, developing game strategies, and providing skill instruction that promotes player growth and safety. Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing drills, supervising student-athletes during practices and competitions, coordinating with the Varsity Coach and Athletic Director, and managing team communications. The coach fosters a positive, inclusive team culture aligned with the school’s Jesuit values, emphasizing sportsmanship, academic responsibility, and character development. Additional duties may include attending meetings, assisting with scheduling and logistics, and maintaining compliance with school and league policies.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated volleyball coaching experience, with knowledge of fundamentals and game strategy
  • Ability to create structured practice plans, teach skills progressively, and adapt instruction to varied experience levels
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills to guide, motivate, and support high school student-athletes
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful team environment consistent with Jesuit and Catholic educational values
  • Experience working with diverse communities and an understanding of the needs of students from immigrant and Spanish-speaking families
  • Reliable organization and time-management skills, including the ability to oversee practice and game logistics
  • Flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends as required by the practice and game schedule
