About the Role

The Freshman Coach reports to the Head Coach, Director of Athletics, and High School Principal, and assumes assignments as directed by the Head Coach. The role involves scheduling and filing practice sessions, managing equipment, attending meetings, ensuring compliance with M.I.A.A. rules, maintaining records, and assisting with varsity team needs. The coach is also responsible for the safety and security of athletes during practices, games, and travel.

As part of the coaching and supervisory responsibilities, the Freshman Coach plays an active role in the development of student-athletes, fostering communication with parents, community members, and college coaches. Key duties include:

  • Encouraging youth sports participation and supporting athletes' transition to high school sports.
  • Engaging with parents and booster clubs to enhance the athletic program.
  • Maintaining a balance between academic and athletic commitments, monitoring student progress.
  • Assisting with college applications, NCAA compliance, and identifying scholarship opportunities.
  • Conducting clinics for elementary students and participating in professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university (preferred).
  • Previous successful playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Current certifications: CPR/AED & First Aid, Online Concussion Education, Online Implicit Bias Education, and MIAA Coaches Education Requirements.
  • Completion of CORI Form and fingerprinting background check.

Pay

Flat rate of $2,081.00 for the contract period, paid in two installments per season: mid-season and end-of-season.

Schedule

Contract length: July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
