About the role
The Girls Assistant Volleyball Coach will instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success while fostering discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem.
Responsibilities
- Supervise junior varsity and freshman teams
- Assign and oversee assistant coaches
- Manage equipment and uniforms
- Affirm adherence to state and league regulations
- Plan and manage schedules for all levels of play
- Communicate schedule changes to the Director of Athletics
- Maintain equipment storage areas
- Prepare for and adhere to scheduled events
- Develop and explain award policies
- Participate in budgeting and equipment guidelines
- Follow NCAA recruiting rules
- Evaluate assistant coaches and programs
- Ensure team's health and welfare
- Communicate with media, parents, officials, opponents, and fans
- Instill respect for equipment and school property
- Organize pre-season meetings
- Evaluate and provide feedback to student-athletes
- Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
- Valid Connecticut coaching certification or temporary emergency coaching permit
- Updated CPR/First Aid training approved by Connecticut State Department of Education
- Substantial knowledge of volleyball technical aspects
- Ability to organize and supervise a sports program
- Ability to read, interpret directions, write reports, and communicate effectively
- Basic computer knowledge
