Deerfield Academy, a private coeducational boarding school founded in 1797 and serving approximately 650 students in grades 9-12, seeks a Head Girls Varsity Hockey Coach and faculty member starting in late August.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the Girls Hockey program, including supervision and instruction of varsity student-athletes during practices and games.
- Collaborate with athletics staff on practice and competition schedules, program promotion (social media, website), staff management, and student-athlete health and wellness.
- Work with the admissions team to recruit student-athletes to the school.
- Support student-athletes, families, and the college advising team on college placement.
- Serve in a broader full-time faculty role, which may include leading a co-curricular activity, dormitory supervision, advising, committee work, and participating in family-style dining hall meals with students.
- Design and lead domestic and international travel programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Previous hockey coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.
- Previous experience as a faculty member in the classroom or another role (e.g., Admission, College Advising).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canvas Learning Management System, and other classroom technologies.
- Interest in and demonstrated skill working with adolescents.
- Demonstrated multicultural competency and commitment to inclusivity.

- Excellent organization, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage highly confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
