Assistant Varsity Girls Ice Hockey Coach

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Assistant Varsity Girls Ice Hockey Coach grades 9-12; Official season is from the beginning of November through the end of February;
  • Assist the Varsity Girls Ice Hockey coach in all aspects of the Girls’ Ice Hockey program including, but not limited to:
    • Developing training programs that include monitoring practices and skill development;
    • Instruction and demonstration of skill sets and techniques necessary for development and athletic achievement in the sport of girls’ ice hockey;
    • Supervision of the proper use of equipment and inventory including uniforms. This includes general upkeep of equipment and timely communication with the Co-Directors.
  • On and off ice support of the student athletes to ensure they can be as successful as possible as student athletes at an independent day and boarding school;
  • Performing support tasks as needed by the Head Coach or athletic department including attendance or other related records;
  • Ensuring a positive environment aligned with our school’s mission;
  • EFFECTIVELY communicate and collaborate with co directors, families, and other necessary stakeholders;
  • Promoting the program within the school and in the community to support the admissions process;
  • Assisting players who are interested in the college recruiting process;
  • Contributing to Hun community life beyond the practice and competition venue to assist in furthering the mission of the school.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred;
  • A minimum of 2-5 years coaching experience; at a High School or college is preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with students, staff, parents, alumni, and community members;
  • Ability to foster a positive team spirit as well as individual skill improvement;
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekend;
  • First Aid and CPR training - or have the ability to be trained;
  • A love for working with young people and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive community.

Seasonal Coaching Stipend

Range: $5,900 to $7,900 per season. The starting salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
