About the Role

This position is a Middle School Girls Basketball Coach in our Athletic department. The coach is expected to build and grow a culture of competing with class and prioritizing team improvement while supporting ATC’s college-preparatory mission.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the middle school girls basketball program, including overseeing all aspects of the program.
  • Design and implement off-season and in-season training programs, fostering team unity while supporting student-athletes in multiple extracurricular activities.
  • Structure practices, create schedules, and establish objective methods for evaluating athletes.
  • Provide supervision and ensure safety, including riding the bus to away games, preparing for emergencies, and accounting for all athletes at dismissal times.
  • Manage fiscal and material resources, including inventorying equipment and jerseys, submitting purchase requests, and assisting with staffing home contests (e.g., concessions, scorer’s table, gate).
  • Involve program participants in fundraising and community service activities, communicating promptly with the athletic director and school about all efforts.
  • Adhere to and implement NMAA and ATC policies, including academic and disciplinary eligibility requirements, parent communication, and mandatory pre-season meetings.
  • Become a member of the New Mexico Coaches’ Association to access liability coverage, clinics, and athlete recognition opportunities.
  • Select team awards and assist with post-season awards ceremonies.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed to coach in New Mexico (verify state reciprocity requirements through the New Mexico Public Education Department’s Licensure Bureau).
  • Proficiency in the social-emotional dimensions of coaching, with a focus on building effective relationships and rapport to create a rigorous athletic program.

Pay

A $2,000 stipend is provided for serving as the middle school program head coach. An additional $1,000 bonus is available for candidates with a current CDL.
