About the role
The Gift Shop Associate provides operational support to the Gift Shop Manager.
Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register and accurately process cash and credit card transactions.
- Stock inventory, enter new inventory into POS system, and price merchandise.
- Follow department opening, closing, and security procedures.
- Prepare, reconcile, and record cash receipts for deposit upon request.
- Answer phones, take phone orders and messages with timely and accurate follow-through.
- Under direction of the Gift Shop Manager, provide guidance and training to Gift Shop volunteers.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a retail environment.
- Experience with cash registers and computers.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal relations and communications skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with customers requiring communication and understanding of spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment, including working on hands and knees and bending to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
Pay
$17.43 – $22.29 per hour (actual rate dependent upon experience).
Schedule
20 hours per week, part-time benefits. Monday–Friday, 1:00 pm–5:00 pm, with flexibility to work other shifts as needed.
