Employment Type Full time Shift Day Shift Description Position Summary The GI Lab Technician supports basic endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy and EGD, using video endoscopes and specialized equipment. This role assists physicians and registered nurses in patient care, specimen collection, room preparation, and endoscope reprocessing to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care for patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures. What You Will Do Prepare and Maintain Procedure Rooms Set up and break down procedure rooms and equipment before and after each caseClean and disinfect work surfaces in accordance with infection prevention standardsConsistently utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)Assist During Endoscopic Procedures Support physicians and registered nurses during endoscopic procedures using Endo therapy techniquesAssist with specimen collection and handlingTransport patients to and from procedure, pre-op, and post-op areasAssist with patient positioning, turning, and safety throughout proceduresSupport application of monitoring equipment, oxygen delivery, and suctioning under RN supervisionFollow all PPE and safety protocolsSupport Pre- and Post-Procedure CareAssist with preparation and cleaning of procedure cartsEscort discharged patients via wheelchairSupport collection of vital signs and urine specimens under supervisionEndoscope Reprocessing Perform pre-cleaning, manual cleaning, and high-level disinfection of endoscopes and accessoriesEnsure compliance with regulatory and infection control standardsStocking and General Support (5%)Deliver laboratory specimens to the labStock supplies, linens, and equipment in work areasMaintain organization of procedural areasPerform errands such as transporting equipment across departmentsQuality, Safety & Service ExcellenceAdhere to patient safety standards and reduce risk of harmParticipate in continuous quality improvement initiativesDemonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and service excellence through clear communication and collaborationPatient Care ExcellenceProvide compassionate, individualized care across diverse patient populationsDemonstrate competency in caring for patients across all age groups (infancy through geriatrics)Recognize and respond to patient needs, including those with special requirements What You Will Need EducationRequired: High School Diploma or equivalentPreferred: Additional training through work experience or educationExperienceRequired: 1–2 years of related healthcare or clinical experiencePreferred: 3–5 years of experience in a clinical or GI lab settingCertificationsRequired: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certificationPreferred: Gastroenterology Technical Specialist (SGNA)Skills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processesAbility to work independently on routine tasks with guidance for complex assignmentsEffective communication and teamwork skillsKnowledge of infection control, patient safety, and clinical protocolsPhysical ability to assist with patient transport, positioning, and equipment handling Compensation Salary Range: $18.16 - $28.14 per hour Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
