About the Role
The Get Safe Fund Assistant Volunteer plays a crucial role in supporting the Get Safe Fund Coordinator in responding to and processing requests for emergency assistance submitted by individuals who identify as DV survivors or those from organizations serving DV survivors. It involves texts we receive via our toll-free line, as well as reviewing, evaluating, and processing applications for financial assistance to determine eligibility based on LLN's established criteria and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Review and respond to incoming phone line texts and online applications for assistance.
- Verify the completeness of applications and supporting documentation.
- Assess applicants' eligibility based on established criteria and guidelines.
- Communicate with applicants to request additional information or clarification when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of applications, decisions via Get Safe Tracker, and any other further correspondence with applicants.
Requirements and Skills
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience in processing applications for assistance, social services, or customer service roles preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to helping individuals in need.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workload demands.
