Germantown Hardware- Part-Time- Cashier

About the role

A Cashier Associate provides customer service by greeting customers, processing transactions accurately and efficiently, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. This role is often the first and last point of contact for customers, requiring a friendly and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Process customer transactions (credit cards, cash, checks) accurately and efficiently.
• Greet customers upon entry and exit to create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Verify merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices for accuracy.
• Handle returns, exchanges, and sales of merchandise.
• Answer incoming phone calls promptly and courteously.
• Receive payments on commercial accounts and assist with credit applications.
• Complete and file due tickets for later pick-ups and rain checks for out-of-stock items.
• Count tenders, prepare deposits, and organize the cash drawer for the next day.
• Use the credit and check verification system according to company policy.
• Manage daily paperwork, including reports, currency, and documentation.
• Direct customers to items in the store and call for assistance when needed.
• Maintain cash controls to protect company assets.
• Follow all cashier procedures and accurately distinguish between similar products.
• Assist in keeping the store clean and perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Customer service-oriented and team-oriented with good organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Handle large or odd-shaped items and stock overhead areas.
• Accurately count and distinguish money denominations.
• Maintain a high level of product knowledge.
• Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
