About the role
The Geriatric Nursing Assistant is a full-time, on-site role.
Responsibilities
- Assists with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
- Makes observations about patients' physical or emotional condition and reports these changes to nursing staff.
- Supports nursing staff with basic clinical tasks.
- Accurately documents care in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
- Maintains a safe, clean environment.
- Promotes comfort and dignity among patients.
- Communicates respectfully and effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Strong geriatric nursing and caregiving skills, with experience supporting older adults and individuals with complex health needs.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credentials and foundational nursing knowledge appropriate to a Geriatric Nursing Assistant role.
- Accurate nursing documentation abilities, including recording vital signs, care activities, and patient observations in a clear, timely manner.
- Effective communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- The ability to follow care plans, adhere to safety and infection control protocols, and manage time and responsibilities reliably during full-time shifts.
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar settings is preferred.
