About the role

Kleinfelder’s Geotechnical team is seeking a Geotechnical Project Manager in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This role offers the opportunity to execute project work, partner with senior geotechnical engineers, mentor junior staff, and engage directly with clients. Positions are available in Columbus, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, or Bridgeport, WV.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare proposals and execute projects.
  • Safely coordinate and execute field exploration programs, construction observation, and associated documentation.
  • Complete engineering analysis including soil and rock classification; shallow and deep foundation capacity; immediate and consolidation settlement; slope stability analysis; geohazard evaluation; ground improvement; and earth retention systems.
  • Partner with internal and external multidisciplinary teams during project development.
  • Prepare Geotechnical Engineering reports, construction specifications, and drawings.
  • Be actively involved during the construction phase of projects.
  • Interact positively with client representatives.
  • Collaborate with project support staff to monitor and control projects to achieve target metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical engineering or geology.
  • 6–8 years of geotechnical engineering/project management experience.
  • Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently while managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with geotechnical software packages including L-Pile, Uni-pile, SHAFT, gINT, GRL WEAP, GEO STUDIO, and FAD preferred.
  • Clean driving record and the ability to pass a drug test required.
  • Following an offer, candidates must satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.
