About the role
Jacobs is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Intern to join our team in Milwaukee, WI, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide. In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation infrastructure projects for both public and private clients
- Develop engineering skills with design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including piles and drilled shafts, retaining walls, and support of excavation systems
- Inspect geotechnical exploratory and construction related activities
- Develop and provide oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs
- Take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team
Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering
- At least a 3.0 GPA
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred qualifications
- MS degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
- Previous internship in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems
- Knowledge of and experience with Ensoft, LPile, and Group, GeoStudio Slope and Sigma, GRLWeap, Civiltech Shoring Suite, Bentley gINT, Bentley MicroStation, and AutoCAD
