About the Role

The successful candidate will join a dynamic geotechnical engineering team, directing and reviewing technical activities related to geotechnical work. This includes planning and participating in site investigations, laboratory testing, geotechnical analysis, detail design, technical support during construction, reporting, and client communications.

Responsibilities

• Direct field work programs associated with geotechnical site investigations.
• Interpret in-situ data from geotechnical site investigations and analyze laboratory testing results to determine soil characteristics.
• Perform geotechnical analysis and designs for project components such as excavations, dams, foundations, fluid or mine waste impoundments, spillways, pipeline or penstock anchorages.
• Develop or lead the development of clear and concise reports and letters for clients.
• Provide technical review of study reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Review project information to determine the approach, work scope, budget, and schedule.
• Mentor and develop less experienced staff, emphasizing teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Act as the client liaison, developing relationships with client representatives and staff.
• Investigate, assess, and assist in securing assignments in the mining, water resources, and hydropower sectors.
• Contribute to the company’s overall marketing strategy.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (BS) in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering.
• Master's degree (MSc) in Geotechnical Engineering is strongly preferred.
• 4 to 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Registered, or on track to be registered, as a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Proficiency in MS Office and slope stability programs (e.g., GeoStudio and/or RocScience).
• Familiarity with gINT, FLAC, PLAXIS, or other geotechnical design software is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Civil 3D is an asset.
• Spanish language skills are a strong asset.

Work Environment

Work will be conducted in both office and field environments, with travel to various outdoor sites as determined by project needs. Adherence to safety standards, including those of the firm, MSHA, and OSHA, is mandatory.
