Geotechnical Engineer II

About the role

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various geotechnical engineering services, including technical evaluations and project management/administrative support. This position requires four to seven years of experience in geotechnical or a similar engineering field, with expertise in deep and shallow foundations, laboratory soil analyses, and technical report issuance with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with geotechnical drilling subcontractors to complete field investigations.
• Perform soil/rock classifications and laboratory analysis for geotechnical engineering across commercial and telecommunications industries.
• Conduct field resistivity testing; monitor foundation and foundation modification installation; perform hand auger and dynamic cone penetrometer testing; and log soils as needed.
• Complete geotechnical engineering calculations for foundation capacity, pavement design, earth retention systems, and more.
• Consult with internal and external disciplines during analysis and report preparation.
• Prepare and compile technical reports and supporting documents.
• Manage workload to meet project timelines and coordinate subcontractors (drillers, utility locators, etc.).

Due to project timelines, the role requires adaptability, strong communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus.
• Engineer-in-Training (EI) registration required; Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
• Four to seven years of geotechnical engineering experience, with expertise in deep and shallow foundations.

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Experience with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Shaft, gINT) and AutoCAD is a plus.
• Familiarity with slope stability software (e.g., STABL Suite, Geoslope) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of growing into expanded project/senior engineering roles.

Travel

Occasional travel (less than 10%) may be required for project meetings and field investigations.
