Geotechnical Engineer

About the role
TRC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geotechnical Engineer with our Geo-Environmental and Civil Engineering team. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for career growth and experienced in geotechnical design and construction. Our engineering staff provide support for permitting, design, and construction of a wide variety of technically challenging projects primarily for industrial, utility, renewable energy, and solid waste management clients. The candidate can be based in the Milwaukee, Madison, or Chicago office.
Responsibilities
- Provide geotechnical guidance in the design and construction for a variety of developments.
- Provide guidance for subsurface explorations and soil testing programs.
- Develop geotechnical reports.
- Develop permit documents and supporting engineering calculations for a variety of developments.
- Prepare engineering drawings and specifications for construction projects.
- Support in civil-site design projects supporting developers, facilities, and infrastructure to comply with various state and federal regulations.
- Assist clients in addressing their development challenges and goals by working with project teams to perform analyses and develop client-focused solutions.
- Apply quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Develop proposals and perform business development.
- Occasional travel throughout the US, primarily in the upper Midwest.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- 2-8 years engineering experience providing geotechnical guidance and similar tasks.
- Experience with the development and implementation of plans, designs, and specifications.
- Experience performing subsurface explorations, logging borings, and understanding of geotechnical laboratory testing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel software.
- Valid driving license (with no major violations).
- Ability to pass a background check and OSHA physical.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or training in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience with energy-related projects, specifically renewable energy (wind, solar, etc.).
- Experience with solid waste management projects and facilities.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and permitting construction projects.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, including current annual refresher.

Pay
Salary Range: USD $70,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 per year.
Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators.
