Your work environment
In this role you will be a part of the infrastructure group in the Northeast market. We are currently looking to grow and enhance our transit, rail control systems, structural, roadway, and tunneling practices and are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Geotechnical Engineer to support major transit and rail projects throughout the New York metropolitan area.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and design for transportation, transit, aviation, infrastructure, and development projects.
- Assist with planning and execution of subsurface investigations, including drilling, sampling, field testing, and laboratory testing programs.
- Evaluate geotechnical data and prepare engineering reports with recommendations for foundations, earth retention systems, ground improvement, pavement design, embankments, and slope stability.
- Develop foundation designs for shallow and deep foundation systems.
- Support the design of retaining walls, support-of-excavation systems, and temporary structures.
- Perform settlement analyses, seepage evaluations, and geotechnical modeling using industry-standard software.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, environmental, and construction teams throughout project delivery.
- Conduct site visits and construction observation activities as required.
- Assist in preparing technical proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
- Contribute to client interactions and support business development initiatives.
What Your Experience Looks Like
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain preferred.
- Experience supporting infrastructure, transportation, transit, aviation, building, or land development projects.
- Experience with geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, and technical report preparation.
- Familiarity with NYC-area geological conditions and subsurface construction challenges is preferred.
- Working knowledge of applicable NYSDOT, MTA, Port Authority, NYCDEP, and NYC DOB standards is a plus.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
