Geotechnical Drilling Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Crew Chief in all aspects of drilling operation, while gaining the experience necessary to work with minimal direction
  • Assists in the collection of field samples and data
  • Returns field samples and data, organized and completed to the Project Manager
  • Maintains tooling, equipment, and vehicles
  • Assists the Crew Chief with trouble shooting mechanical problems and perform the required repairs
  • Uses required and approved personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing all functions
  • Promotes, communicates, and adheres to safe work practices
  • Completes all required paperwork and training in a timely manner
  • Operates Vehicles in a safe and lawful manner
  • Maintains necessary compliance documentation relating to the operation of commercial motor vehicles

Requirements

  • Prior geotechnical drilling experience is preferred, but not required
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform necessary repairs
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, customers, and supervisors, while fostering a collaborative and engaging work environment
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to problem solve and work in a dynamic work environment with ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
  • Dependable, the ability to maintain reliable attendance and work a full-time schedule which sometimes includes weekend and night work
  • Able to work outdoors, in a field / construction work setting, in all types of weather conditions and terrain
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis, 75 lbs occasionally
  • A valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
  • The ability to obtain a CDL license within 90 days is preferred
  • The ability to pass a driving / road test
  • The ability to pass a pre employment drug screen, criminal background check and motor vehicle record check
