Geospatial Specialist (Production)
NV5 is seeking a Geospatial Specialist (Production) to provide support for a federal client using the Esri GIS software suite. This role involves analysis, development, and maintenance of spatial databases, application development, and integration of environmental models with GIS.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with hardware or software vendors to ensure a problem-free hardware/software environment.
- Implement quality control procedures.
- Oversee procedures performed by associate specialists and data technicians.
- Monitor and ensure proper data backups.
- Approve and release final product databases, maps, and reports as delegated by the Service Center Manager.
- Assist Service Center Manager and Assistant Manager in preparing and implementing user and project setup, accounting, and security.
- Perform mapping and database management functions on a variety of projects.
- Create schemas and workflow procedures for enterprise operations.
- Manage various data collection technologies, including peripheral devices such as network printers, scanners, GPS units, and remote sensing technology.
- Develop applications using VB.net, C#, JavaScript/HTML, ASP.net, MVC, ArcObjects/COM, and Python.
- Work with frameworks such as Bootstrap, Breeze, jQuery, and Dojo.
- Develop web-based services, maps, and reports.
- Integrate environmental models (e.g., DHI models, CALSIM, LTC) with GIS.
- Develop links to external databases from the ArcGIS environment and design user interfaces.
- Maintain a sound GIS enterprise environment, including system management tasks such as software upgrades and operating system maintenance.
- Work independently and within an interdisciplinary GIS team.
Requirements
- BA/BS in natural sciences, engineering, or computer sciences.
- 3+ years of experience with Python and/or ModelBuilder.
- Successful completion of any combination of the following Esri training courses within the last 2 years (may substitute for some experience):
- Current ArcGIS Desktop or Pro
- Building Geodatabases or equivalent coursework
- Cartographic Production
- ESRI 3D Creation/Analysis or Visualization coursework
- Modernizing your Field Workflows Using Fields for ArcGIS
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the ArcGIS software suite (including ArcGIS Pro and Spatial Analyst).
- Demonstrated geography, mapping, and cartography skills.
- Experience with ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE configuration is desired.
- ArcGIS Online administration experience.
- Thorough understanding of computer architecture and networks.
- Eligibility for federal security clearance (DOI); proof of U.S. citizenship is required.
Work Environment
This position is located at the client site in Sacramento, CA, with less than 10% travel (occasional on-site visits required). The role is contingent upon the successful award of a government contract; hiring and start dates depend on contract approval.
Pay
The pay range for this California position is $115,000 - $130,000 per year. Base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
