About the role

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Responsibilities

We seek diverse expertise relevant to the following topics:

  • Diverse expertise relevant to the study of geophysical measurements and their impact on the habitability of icy ocean worlds.
  • A strong background in solid earth geophysics or geochemistry, and proficiency in programming in Python and MATLAB.
  • A commitment to open-source (FAIR) practices and familiarity with tools such as GitHub and Sphinx.

Requirements

The preferred candidate should have:

  • A completed doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong publication record in applied theoretical and experimental aqueous chemistry.
  • Experience with forward modeling relating geophysics to habitability.
  • Knowledge of tools such as GitHub and Sphinx.
