Geology Technician

Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located in central Arizona, near Phoenix. Established in 1972, it has produced over four billion pounds of copper. Capstone acquired the mine in 2013 and has permits through 2039, with plans to potentially extend operations until 2050. The area offers a blend of mining work and urban amenities.

Position Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety leadership and safety consciousness
• Technical and accurate sampling of blast holes using the most up-to-date procedures
• Basic survey abilities for picking up and laying out blast holes
• Manage sample inventory and related warehouse material safely and without damage
• Enter basic information into computer geological database
• Ensure duplicate samples are correctly labeled and identified for laboratory staff
• Accurately complete required forms for timely shipments to laboratories
• Identify and correct errors in sample handling procedures
• Perform core cutting, labeling, and organizing drill core
• Take high-quality core photographs and maintain proper records
• Conduct density measurements and assist with sample preparation for assays
• Support ore control activities and grade monitoring in production areas
• Assist geologists during drilling campaigns and field activities
• Participate in a rotating roster schedule
• Perform other duties as required

Position Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Experience in drilling operations is a plus
• Soil or rock sampling experience
• Experience operating mobile equipment, such as forklift
• Ability to lift and handle up to fifty pounds
• Experience performing equipment inspections
• Outdoor and ambient weather conditions experience
• Computer software skills, especially Microsoft Office and acQuire
• Organized and self-motivated personality
• Valid State Driver's License
• English language proficiency

Preferred Experience

• Experience in drilling operations
