About the role
Build, develop, and support Geo-Civil projects for AECOM's Southern California (SoCal) practice.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients in civil infrastructure and mining by providing technical expertise, attending client and project meetings, managing client expectations, and supporting business development pursuits.
- Plan, budget, and execute surface and subsurface field geologic and geotechnical exploration and manage support staff required to execute investigations.
- Drive and support project pursuits and contribute to business development efforts in California and around the western United States.
- Provide strong team management, mentoring, staff scheduling, and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
- Build and drive collaborations with and between geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs.
- Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Perform and direct geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization.
- Provide support on the design and installation of ground water wells and geotechnical instrumentation (VWP’s, inclinometers, transducers, etc.).
- Provide interpretation of site conditions including geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data.
- Develop geologic models for complex geologic site conditions.
- Review and understand regulatory guidelines and industry standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work on dams.
- Perform liaison activities with regulatory agencies (local, state, and federal agencies) on behalf of our client.
- Provide strong written and verbal communications with clear and concise technical reports and documents deliveries along with quality in-person or remotely client and organizational presentations.
- Mentor younger geologic staff to support their development and success.
Qualifications
- BSc in Geology Engineering Geology or Earth Science & 8 + years of relevant experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
- California Professional Geologist (PG).
- Valid US driver's License required.
Preferred Qualifications
- MSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Earth Science.
- 2 years project management experience.
- California Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG).
